My name is Lorna Phillips. I’m 24 and a writer (soon to be author!) .
I was born in England, then spent a bit of my childhood in Zimbabwe, before moving and settling in New Zealand. I now live in a lovely little cottage on a farm with my wonderful partner (she’s an amazing artist, check out her page: https://www.facebook.com/joannaquiranteartist).
I spent six years at university, studying Ancient History, Archaeology and finally Forensic Science. Along the way I learnt to read seven languages, although four of them are long dead. I love languages as they allow me to see the world from so many different perspectives. I could be learning how an Ancient Egyptian viewed his world one day, and about a German woman’s struggle during the war the next. It may sound dramatic, but I believe that everyone has a story to tell if only we take the chance to listen, no matter where they’re from and what language they speak.
Throughout all my schooling however, I still kept hold of my desire to write and create stories. I have done a fair bit of travel and this, along with my studies and my inability to go a week without reading some form of fiction, has given me so much ammunition for my novels. I have also written a bit of fanfiction which you can check out at https://www.fanfiction.net/~sapphosfruitmerchant.
I love swimming, reading ’til the wee hours of the morning, video-gaming straight through the wee hours of the morning, doing my happy dance when no-one’s looking, and making really organised, colour coded, lists and timetables. I do photography when my camera is charged, and cook [experimental/tasty] meals when I’m hungry. My lifelong dream is to have everyone in the world using proper grammar. Because grammar is very, very important. Very. Important.
And in case you were wondering, my favourite colour is purple.
Anyway, that’s about all for now. Please feel free to browse through my website. I have posts on writing and my own writing journey, and I also provide editing and proofreading services which are detailed in the ‘Services’ page.
