An organised writer??

In the last few weeks I have re-read/edited my first novel for the seventh (8th?) time. I am now fairly comfortable for someone else to read it. For those of you that read my post two posts back, you will remember how I mentioned that the lady who will be reading my novel had to finish with her current client before we could move on to mine. Well, she is now done and we are discussing when she can take a look at mine! So that is ridiculously exciting!

In my defence I did spend half of January on safari in Africa. I then had to decompress, before packing everything up and moving house. While the boxes are all emptied, there are still a few things laying about the place that really need a home.

The Beginning and NaNoWriMo

My book started two years ago with a couple of lines scribbled on the back of my lecture notes on Middle Kingdom Egypt. I’m always having story ideas, but for some reason this one stuck with me. I spent the rest of the day musing over what would happen in this tale. Who would be in it? Why would they be in it? What colour would their hair be? You know, the really important things.

Update

As the title suggests, this is going to be a bit of an update.

Yesterday we went to a panel at the local Readers and Writers Festival. If you’ve never been to one of these, I thoroughly recommend it. If you’re a reader, you get to learn a bit about the people who actually create those worlds that you love to immerse yourself in, and if you’re a writer then you may learn a bit about how to actually create those worlds.
